Yes, Botulinum Toxin  can be used as a preventative treatment. Muscles shorten when they contract in the face. This causes the skin on top to crease. Over time, these creases begin to form fine lines and get deeper.

Botulinum Toxin administered twice-three times a year will prevent these muscles from contracting for the majority of the year, allowing the skin on top some respite and non-movement. This prevents the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

The treatment is not suitable for any that:

• Has Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert Syndrome.
• Is hypersensitive to product ingredients, specifically BTX-A.
• Currently has an active infection in the area to be injected.
• Is pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Avoid blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil, one week prior to treatment.

Advise your clinician if you:

• Have an auto-immune disorder.
• Are regularly taking anti-coagulation therapy (i.e.: Warfarin,) Heparin.
• Have a severe metabolic or systemic disorder.
• Have active sunburn, eczema or psoriasis.
• Are currently taking aminoglycoside antibiotics.

If you are under 18 years of age, you will need a 7 day cooling off period.

Following their treatment, the client should be advised to:

• Avoid touching the injection sites and lying down or bending over for four hours.
• Avoid ‘facing-down’ or local.
• Pressure treatments (e.g. massage, facials, motorbike helmets, swimming goggles) for 12 hours.
• Avoid strenuous exercise and heat (e.g. saunas, LED) for 24 hours.

• To ensure that you are happy and that optimal results are achieved, it is recommended that you attend a review appointment and assessment at two weeks to check muscle activity and aesthetic outcome.
